Supply Chain Art Arrives at Final Destination
The Estate of Chicago Artist Jill Jeannides Completes Largest Sale to Date
It felt like divine intervention that 3 works from the estate of prolific Chicago artist Jill Jeannides were recently sold to one of the largest privately-owned drayage companies in the country: IMC Companies, representing her largest sale to date.
Jill Jeannides (1975 - 2021), alumnus of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Lake Forest native of Ukrainian heritage passed away unexpectedly leaving behind a large, captivating collection of art now being managed by her family. “It was Jill's dream to place her Port Authority and Interchange paintings in an industry-leading C-Suite, and that's exactly where they've landed. Our hearts couldn't be more full,” says Lindsey Casey, the artists sister. Jeannides work resides in numerous private collections including the City of Chicago Mayors office.
From botanical drawings to large-scale paintings her vast portfolio of work depicts “hot spots of cultural contrast” according to the artist, including airports, urban centers, and natures juxtaposition to industry. In a loving act of devotion, Jill's sister, Lindsey Casey, has taken on the task of preserving her estate and continuing her legacy through the sale of her artworks, which are housed in Chicago and California.
The sale includes Interchange, 2007, acrylic on canvas (below), Container Ships Hanjin, 2008, pencil on paper, and Port Authority, 2014, oil on canvas (above). “Globalization's vast distances are ignored at the grocery store and highlighted at ports and airports.” - Jill Jeannides
Next in line for the Jeannides family will be the release of Jill's Ukrainian Heritage Collection with proceeds going towards Ukrainian relief efforts, “Jill felt really connected to her Ukrainian heritage. She grew up spending Sundays gazing at the beauty inside Chicago's Ukrainian Churches and later went on to visit Cathedrals throughout Ukraine. Her respect for the cultural roots of Ukraine radiates through her work, and there's no better time than now to share that with the world.”
